Health service launches new careers initiative

The Department of Health today launched a new careers initiative as part of Job Scene Belfast 2004.

The new Initiative, which was launched at today's event in the Odyssey Arena, aims to promote employment within the Health & Personal Social Services (HPSS), specifically targeting school leavers.

A spokesperson for the Department said: “The package contains a careers handbook, 36 individual careers leaflets and an interactive compact disc. Information is provided on the variety of jobs available within the HPSS, covering the skills potential applicants will require and the training available to them. Potential applicants will also be provided with details on how to obtain further information and apply for jobs.

“The HPSS is the largest single employer in Northern Ireland and offers a wide range of employment opportunities. The HPSS workforce is vital to the health and social care of the population. Staff working as part of the healthcare team play an important role in the delivery of vital care and services to our local population.”

A comprehensive information package has been produced to accompany the initiative and will be used to promote HPSS careers at exhibitions and within education institutions.

Job Scene is open from 10am to 4pm on Thursday (plus special evening opening from 5.00pm to 7.00pm) and from 10am to 3pm on Friday.
