Three rescued from fire in north Belfast
Three people have been rescued from a fire which broke out at a block of flats in north Belfast.
Around twenty firefighters tackled the fire, which started in a ground floor flat at Cliftonville Avenue at around 11pm on Monday night. Several firemen donned breathing apparatus to enter the building and rescued the three individuals inside, who were treated at the scene but did not require hospital treatment.
Police say they are treating the fire as suspicious, and will carry out an investigation into the cause of the blaze. Assistant Fire Officer Colin Dickson added that a contributing factor to the starting of the fire had been a smoke alarm which failed to worked properly. He stated: "We would recommend that people do test their smoke alarms to make sure they are working at all times."

Man dies in house fire in Newtownabbey
A man has died and three people were rescued following three separate fires across Northern Ireland overnight. In Newtownabbey, a man, reported to be in his 40s, died after a fire broke out at a house in Cherryvale Park area shortly after 10pm. He has not yet been named. Police and forensic experts were examining the scene of the blaze today.

19-year-old woman rescued from Newry fire
Firefighters have rescued a 19-year-old woman from a fire at a ground floor flat in Newry, County Down. A number of people, who were on the ground floor of the building at Cleary Crescent at the time of the blaze, had escaped but firefighters wearing breathing apparatus had to rescue the woman.

Woman rescued from fire in north Belfast
A woman has been rescued from a fire at an apartment block in north Belfast. Fire crews were called to the property at Queen Victoria Gardens in Fortwilliam at about 12.45am on Wednesday. A spokesman for the fire and rescue service said the fire was being treated as "suspicious".

Three people have been rescued from a fire at a block of flats at English Street in County Armagh. The blaze started in the early hours of Sunday morning and the fire service have described the fire as suspicious. Firefighters found a bin on fire at the foot of a staircase leading to two flats where a woman and two men were trapped.

ASSEMBLY CREATE AWARD TO HONOUR FIRE SERVICE
THE Northern Ireland Fire Service is to receive the first ever award given by the province's devolved assembly. An illuminated scroll is to be presented to Chief Fire Officer John McClelland on Tuesday, by assembly speaker Lord Alderdice in tribute to the sacrifice made by fire fighters over the years.
