Jobs and benefit service launches customer charter
A new customer charter that aims to ensure better service across the Jobs & Benefits Service has been launched today.
The charter includes details of the services available and the standards people can expect, and is accompanied by a leaflet explaining how to comment or complain on the service they receive.
Bryan Davis, Operations Director at the Social Security Agency, said the Jobs & Benefits Service was a new way of delivering services to people looking for work.
Speaking at the launch in Holywood Road Jobs & Benefits office in Belfast today, Mr Davis said: “This charter tells about the range and level of service that people can expect when they contact the Jobs & Benefits Service. It explains what we will do for customers, what we expect from them, and importantly what to do if they have a comment or experience a problem with the service they receive.”
Patricia McAuley, Director of Preparation for Work Division at the Department for Employment and Learning, added: "The Jobs & Benefits Service is at the forefront of major changes in the social welfare system which encourages people into work while providing security for those who cannot work.
“The new customer charter shows how the Department for Employment and Learning and the Social Security Agency are working together to improve services for people in Northern Ireland.”

Investigation Into South Belfast Fire
An investigation has been launched into a fire at a former primary school in south Belfast. The Fire Service confirmed they were called to the blaze at the school on School Road in Newtownbreda at about 22:00 on Sunday. It is understood the building was badly damaged in the fire.

First NI Motorway Service Stations Announced
Northern Ireland’s first ever motorway service stations have been granted planning permission. Currently, motorists have to leave the motorway in order to find a service station, but the two developments planned for the M2, along with the two to follow on the M1, will offer drivers direct slip road access from both directions.
