Co Antrim firms fined £13,000 for waste disposal offences
Two Co Antrim companies have been fined a total of £13,000 for waste disposal offences.
Aquaforce Ltd of Newtownabbey and Delta Print & Packaging Ltd of Blackstaff Road, Belfast, were fined £7,000 and £6,000 respectively for offences under the Waste and Contaminated Land (NI) Order 1997 and for failing to comply with requirements specified in the Producer Responsibility Obligations (Packaging Waste) Regulations (Northern Ireland) 1999.
Aquaforce had been transporting waste to a site, which had no authority to accept and was then burning the waste. After three warnings from the DOE Environment and Heritage Service, the company was eventually prosecuted.
Delta Print & Packaging Ltd, meanwhile, pleaded guilty at Belfast Magistrates Court to four offences over a two-year period for:

- failure to take reasonable steps to recover and recycle packaging waste in relation to the 2001 compliance year;
- failure to register with the department for the 2002 compliance year;
- failure to take reasonable steps to recover and recycle packaging waste in relation to the 2002 compliance year;
- failure to furnish any return required by the Department.

Former Headmaster Jailed For Child Sexual Abuse
The PSNI have welcomed the sentencing of an 89-year-old Belfast man for a significant number of non-recent sexual abuse offences. At Laganside Crown Court, Paul Dunleavy was sentenced to 10 years imprisonment, to start in May 2026 at the conclusion of his current sentence.

Pharmacist Sentenced For Drug Offences
A 27-year-old pharmacist from Belfast has been sentenced to 180 hours of community service for unlawfully possessing and stealing controlled prescription drugs. Adam Hanna pleaded guilty to charges under the Misuse of Drugs Act 1971 and the Theft Act 1969. The offences took place at a North Belfast pharmacy between January and March 2024.

Three Arrested in L'Derry For Drug Offences
Police in L'Derry have arrested three people and seized drugs worth an estimated £600. The arrests were made following a proactive policing operation in the city. On Monday, 18 November, officers observed suspicious behaviour from a 39-year-old man and a 36-year-old woman in the Strand Road area.
