Court hears of 'loyalist link' to drugs find in Belfast
There may be a loyalist link behind an alleged drugs operation uncovered in north Belfast, Belfast Magistrates Court has heard today.
Opposing bail for two men charged with possessing the Class A ecstasy tablets with intent to supply, a Crown prosecution lawyer told the court that drugs with a street value of £80,000 were discovered during a police search of a property at Flush Place in north Belfast on October 29.
Both Mark McMahon, 26, of Whitewell Road, and John David Smith, 19, of Ballysillan Avenue, denied the charges.
During the police search the court heard that 10,000 ecstasy tablets had been found at the rear of a shed at the property.
Both men were remanded in custody until November 29.
It is understood that police are seeking a third man in connection with the drugs seizure.
