Co Down student found dying on street in Edinburgh
A Co Down student who was found dying on a main road in Edinburgh early this morning has been named as 21-year-old Andrew Couser.
Mr Couser was discovered with serious head injuries on Western Approach Road on Tuesday morning and taken to Edinburgh Royal Infirmary where he later died from his injuries.
Police have confirmed that the victim had been been out socialising with friends when he became involved in a fight with several youths at around 3am.
Mr Couser, from Donaghadee, is understood to have broken away from the fracas near Thomson's bar and gone to a nearby baker's shop where he refused medical attention and asked for a pie.
He was later discovered by a motorist on the Western Approach Road, lying under a bridge.
A police spokeswoman said they were “very anxious” to trace any witnesses who saw a disturbance in the early hours of this morning to contact them.
Detectives have sealed off parts of Western Approach Road and neighbouring Morrison Street to search for evidence and are continuing to appeal for information.
