Invest NI make final call for better connection
Invest NI has announced the final call for small to medium sized enterprises (SME’s) seeking to benefit from its broadband assistance programme.
Launched in June 2003, the programme is open to SME’s across Northern Ireland and will provide funding of up to 40% to encourage companies to implement broadband within their business.
The 18 month programme, which covers installation and a first year’s running costs of up to £5,000, will stop accepting applications for support on the December 31.
Alan Neville, Director of Knowledge Management at Invest NI, said: “It is widely acknowledged that broadband connectivity will have a major influence on enhancing the overall competitiveness of business globally and that local companies need to deploy this technology if they are to remain competitive in the future.”
As part of this initiative Invest NI’s E-Solutions Centre said it plans to offer demonstrations on the full range of broadband technologies available, including advice on E-security and other areas of ICT depending on individual business need.

Faster Broadband Connections Onstream
Customers of Belfast-based Rainbow Telecom are set to benefit from free superfast broadband. The company is the first in Northern Ireland to state its pricing structure ahead of the roll-out of next generation superfast broadband by the Department of Enterprise, Trade and Investment, (DETI) due to be completed by May 2011.

Broadband Technology Boosts Rural Areas
Northern Ireland Enterprise Minister Arlene Foster has announced a further £88,000 for technology trials, to improve broadband services in rural areas across the country. The financial support, from the £1.9million Broadband Fund, has been awarded to two companies, H2O Ireland Limited and North West Electronics.
