Ballybean murder victim named

Police have named the man found murdered in Gleneagles Gardens in Ballybean area of Dundonald.

A murder inquiry was launched following the discovery of the body of 40-year-old David Hamilton at his flat.

It is understood that the alarm was raised when he was reported overdue for work on Monday.

Mr Hamilton's body was subsequently found in his flat on Monday afternoon. He is believed to have worked as a porter in the Ulster Hospital.

Forensic teams have been examining the scene where the body was discovered.

Police are treating the incident as a murder, but with no apparent motive, one line of inquiry is that the death may possibly have resulted from a burglary.

It is not thought that there is any sectarian or paramilitary involvement in the murder.

Anyone with information is asked to contact detectives at Castlereagh.
