Two die in road traffic accident
Two people have died following a road traffic accident in Co Down at the weekend.
The incident occurred near Gilford at about 10.30pm on Sunday after a blue Renault Laguna car left the Moyallon Road and hit a tree.
The victims have been named as 39-year-old Michelle Anne McCann from Park Road in Portadown and 40-year-old David Dunn from Ballynaholme Crescent in Armagh.
Anyone who witnessed the collision is asked to contact police at Banbridge on 028 9065 0222.
Elsewhere in Co Down, residents from the Greater Ballybot area of Newry are meeting today to discuss serious anti-social behaviour problems over recent weeks.
This culminated at the weekend when a car collided with a minibus at the junction of Merchant’s Quay and Frances Street in the early hours of Sunday morning.
Five people were then injured when the occupants of the car smashed windows of the bus, and attacked passengers with what was described as a bladed weapon.
Today’s meeting is being chaired by Sinn Fein’s Ewan Morgan who said the incident in Francis Street highlighted only too well just what residents, the vast majority of whom are elderly, had to endure.
“We in Sinn Féin have met with residents, bar and nightclub owners, coach drivers, taxi firms, in fact all parties concerned with this matter, to discuss practical solutions to alleviate the problems” said Mr Morgan.
Monday’s meeting is taking place in the local Dominican Hall adjacent to were this weekends latest incident took place.

Man Dies In Workplace Accident In Co Armagh
A man has died in a workplace accident in Co Armagh. It is believed the man was crushed by a road roller while a new road surface was being laid on the Bog Road, Forkhill, on Wednesday, 31 May. Police and the Health and Safety Executive have launched an investigation.

Woman Killed In Co Armagh Road Collision
A woman in her 30s has been killed in a road crash in Portadown, Co Armagh. The woman was hit by a car as she was walking on the side of the Moy Road at around 9.45pm on Tuesday. The road was closed for a short time but it has been reopened. Police are appealing for any witnesses to contact them.
