Police question man following Bangor murder
A man is being questioned by police following the murder of a woman in Co Down.
The body of Pauline McConnell, who was believed to be in her early 40s, was discovered in a ground floor flat at Lismore Avenue, Bangor, at about 2.30am on Monday.
Police who are treating the death as a murder have revealed the victim had suffered a stab wound to the chest. Detectives have confirmed that a detailed forensic examination of the scene has also been carried out.
The Mayor of North Down, Councillor Valerie Kinghan described news of the death as “absolutely devastating”.
"It certainly is no way that any family wants to start off a New Year," she said.

Police have launched a murder investigation after a man was stabbed to death in Bangor. The 47 year-old was attacked outside a property in Enterprise Court shortly after 1am this morning, Thursday 31 October. A 45 year-old man was arrested at the scene and remains in police custody.
