NIE works to restore electricity supplies
Areas of Counties Down and Armagh were still without power today following a second night of severe weather across Northern Ireland.
Approximately 100 homes in rural areas were still without electricity on Monday morning following the weekend storms, despite engineers' efforts to restore power.
Newry, Craigavon and Downpatrick areas were worst affected by the storms and by midnight on Sunday around 700 customers still had no electricity.
A statement released by NIE on Monday said the electricity operator was doing all it could to restore power to customers as soon as possible: “Hundreds of NIE staff have again worked through the night to restore those customers affected by the severe storm force winds, 90mph and over, which battered Northern Ireland over the weekend.
“Approximately 100 customers were without electricity supplies overnight and NIE hopes to have all of these customers restored this morning.”
NIE asked any customers still without power to contact NIE on 08457 643 643.
