Pet parrot hurt in creeper burglary

Detectives in Lisburn have appealed for information following a creeper burglary during which a family’s pet parrot was injured.

The burglars, who broke into the house in Main Street, Glenavy, shortly after 7am on Tuesday, stole a number of pieces of jewellery, which are of great sentimental value to the owner, before escaping in the family’s grey Peugeot 405.

However, the thieves also attempted to steal the family’s pet parrot ‘Finbar’, a blue and yellow macaw. When the bird resisted, the would-be abductors broke his tail and damaged his wings.

Police at Lisburn are keen to hear from anyone who can assist them with their enquiries and can be contacted on 028 9266 5212 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555111.
