CCEA launches new achievement framework plans
Northern Ireland’s main examination’s body, CCEA today launched a public consultation on a proposed new framework for achievement for young people and adults.
The new framework is aimed at replacing the present the National Qualifications Framework which includes over 4,000 qualifications offered by more than 100 awarding bodies.
Present problems include a confusing array of names for broadly similar qualifications, overlaps in provision, and lack of clarity for employers and learners when trying to compare the value of qualifications.
Speaking at today’s conference, CCEA Chief Executive Gavin Boyd said: “We are aiming to create a framework that will make it easier for both learners and employers to understand and recognise the value of qualifications and their learning outcomes.
“In parallel with similar consultations in England and Wales, CCEA wants to hear from employers, colleges, training organisations, learners and other interested parties in Northern Ireland as to what they think of what’s being proposed.”
The consultation document and response pack can be found on the CCEA website at www.rewardinglearning.com/development/qualifications/qualifications.html, and last until Friday April 29.
