Two seriously hurt as stolen car collides with van

Two people have been injured following a serious road traffic collision in Belfast this morning.

The incident occurred on the Westlink when a stolen car that was being followed by police and which was travelling in the wrong direction on one of the carrigaeways, collided with a white van at about 4.20am.

Both carriageways between the Grosvenor Road and York Street was immediately closed as police examined the two vehicles which came to rest on either side of the Westlink, near the Yorkgate shopping complex.

The road has since been reopened to traffic.
