Bus windscreen shattered in attack in east Belfast
Detectives at Strandtown are appealing for information after a bus was attacked off the Woodstock Road in east Belfast around teatime on Tuesday.
Shortly after 6pm the bus, which was travelling along Woodstock Link, was attacked by up to three males armed with what police believe was a catapult type weapon.
They fired at least twice at the vehicle shattering the windscreen. Two small brass objects were later recovered by police from the scene.
The driver was left extremely shocked by the ordeal along with a woman who was the only passenger on board the bus at the time.
Police have praised the actions of the driver in safely bringing the vehicle to a halt, saying the consequences of the attack could have been “catastrophic”.
