Man dies in Co Down crash

A man has died following a road traffic accident in Co Down on Friday.

The incident, which involved two lorries, occurred on the main A1 Belfast to Newry road near Sheepbridge at around 10am.

A second person was hurt in the crash and has been taken to hospital with multiple fractures.

The road is currently closed between Sheepbridge and Newry and diversions have been put in place at Turmore Road and at the Mourne Country roundabout, where traffic is also being diverted via the Tandragee Road.

Today’s death brings the number of people killed on Northern Ireland’s roads in 2005 to 29.

Ballagh Road Closed Following Crash
The PSNI have issued an appeal for information following a serious road traffic collision in Newcastle, Co Down. The Ballagh Road has been closed and motorists are being advised to avoid the area. A PSNI spokesman said: "Motorists are advised that the Ballagh Road, Newcastle is closed due to a serious road traffic collision this afternoon.

Appeal Issued After Newry Burglary And Hit-And-Run Road Crash
Detectives have appealed for information for information following a report of a burglary and hit-and-run road traffic collision in Newry on Sunday morning, 23 June. Police received a report that a white BMW X5 was stolen outside a house in the Dublin Road area of Cloghoge.
