Family threatened at gunpoint during burglary

A family was threatened at gunpoint during a burglary at a house in Co Down on Monday.

The incident occurred on Station Road, Killough at around 8.30pm when a man dressed as a police officer confronted the male occupant of the home and forced his way into the house.

Once inside the robber held the man’s wife and three children at gunpoint, while two accomplices threatened the man and demanded money.

A scuffle eventually ensued with the man managing to escape his attackers, who then fled the property themselves.

Elsewhere on Monday, a teenager suffered a broken ankle and broken jaw following a sectarian attack in Co Antrim.

The incident occurred close to the Dunclug estate in Ballymena at around 8.30pm. Trouble is believed to have started following a local football fixture before moving to the nearby Dunclug estate, where up to 20 youths threw stones at police and a number of cars.

Co Fermanagh man suffers broken nose in robbery
A Co Fermanagh man has suffered a broken nose after being assaulted by two men at his home in Enniskillen. The 65-year-old man was confronted by two men who forced their way into his home on Sunday. They then assaulted him before robbing his home. It is understood that a sum of money was taken during the robbery.

Woman Threatened At Gunpoint In Co Antrim
Police have launched an investigation after a woman was threatened by a man at gunpoint in County Antrim on Monday. The man, believed to be in his mid 20s, called at a house in Colinvale, Dunmurry, at approximately 6pm. He confronted the woman and pointed a gun at her. Police believe he made off in a gold coloured car.

Shop assistants threatened at gunpoint
Police are appealing for information after two shop assistants were threatened by armed men in south Belfast last night. The men entered the shop on the Upper Malone Road at around 8.30pm and threatened staff with a handgun and knife. One of those threatened was a 16-year-old female.

A 43-year-old man has been arrested in connection with an incident at a house in Coleraine, Co L'Derry. It happened at a property on Knockantern Grove in the Mountsandel area on Tuesday, 16 August. The suspect has been arrested on suspicion of possessing of an offensive weapon with intent to commit an offence and assault on police.

Man Dies In Co L'Derry House Fire
A man aged in his 50s has died in a house fire in Magherafelt, Co L'Derry An investigation has been launched into the cause of the fire at a house on Highfield Road, however police said that they don't believe the fire was suspicious. The man's identity has not yet been released.
