Belfast prepares for 'Week of Walking'
Children from St Bride’s Primary School were put through their paces at the Mary Peter’s Track today as Belfast launched its annual Week of Walking.
Encouraging the community to walk its way to a healthier lifestyle, the week sees around 40 walks taking place citywide, with a range to suit all abilities allowing them to enjoy a fun and affordable healthy lifestyle.
From Toddle Waddles to Senior citizen walks, the people of Belfast are being encouraged to put on comfortable shoes and go walking.
Highlight of the Belfast Week of Walking, which starts on Saturday April 30 and runs through until Sunday May 8, include: A 'Walk in the Park' around Ormeau Park; ‘Step back in Time’ which encapsulates the history of the Shankill area of Belfast; 'Race Walking' at Mary Peters Track; and the 'Walk about Club' (Heart Project) which takes place at Falls Park and encourages people to use walking as a means of keeping fit and healthy.

New Walking Trails Open On Shores Of Strangford Lough
New walking trails have officially opened on the shores of Strangford Lough in Co Down. The National Trust bought land for £4 million as part of a restoration project at Mount Stewart. Three miles of new walking trails have now opened for visitors to explore 'archaeological wonders'.

New Walking Trails Opened In Mourne Mountains
Three new walking trails have been opened in the Mourne Mountains at Silent Valley, County Down. The launch event was hosted by NI Water and attended by various stakeholders and elected representatives, including the Mayor of Newry & Mourne Council, Cllr Michael Ruane. The trails offer visitors a new range of walking routes to suit all abilities.
