Two stabbed in separate weekend attacks

Police at Strandtown are appealing for witnesses following a stabbing incident in the Albertbridge road area of east Belfast on Sunday.

Around 5pm several men entered a house and stabbed the 59-year-old occupant at least three times in the chest. The man, whose injuries are not believed to be life threatening, was taken to hospital for treatment.

Meanwhile, police have arrested two men following a robbery in the Carrick Hill area of north Belfast on Saturday.

At approximately 1.45am, police received a report of a male having been stabbed at the junction of Stephen Street and Library Street.

It is believed that three men aged in their late teens, one of whom was the man stabbed, were robbed at knife-point by two men. The men also took the victims' mobile phones.

The injured man was taken to hospital with stab wounds, his wounds are not thought to be life threatening.

It is understood that two men arrested at the scene are helping police with their enquiries.

Police said that two knives and three mobile phones had been recovered and enquiries are "ongoing".

Man Arrested Over Murder Of Brian McIlhagga
A 30-year-old man has been arrested in connection with the murder of Brian McIlhagga. A gang of masked men dragged the 42-year-old victim from a house in the Riverview Park area in Ballymoney on 05 January 2015. He was beaten and shot in a paramilitary-style attack.

Woman Attacked With Metal Bar In Ballycastle
Police have issued an appeal for witnesses after a woman was attacked with a metal bar in the early hours of Sunday 19 August in Ballycastle, Co Antrim. A 27-year-old was attacked at about 1.45am on Fairhill Street. A 29-year-old man has been detained in connection with the incident. Police have appealed for witnesses to the incident.

Three Arrested In Connection With Ballymena Murder
Police are treating the death of a 69-year-old man from Ballymena as murder. The victim was discovered in the Drumtara area on Tuesday afternoon. Two men, aged 41 and 49, and a woman, 47, have been arrested and are in police custody. Police are appealing to anyone with information to contact them.
