Ballymoney car dealer fined
A Ballymoney car dealer has been fined for not displaying prices on cars for sale. Crieth Motors of Market Street was fined £800 plus £40 court costs at Coleraine Magistrate’s Court on Friday.
The prosecutions resulted from a survey in the Ballymoney area to check the level of price information available to consumers across a range of goods for sale. Compliance by car dealers, butchers, pubs and home bakeries was particularly poor and court action was taken against the motor dealer as the advice has been repeatedly ignored.
Trading Standards Area Inspector Anthony Haughan said: “It is important that all products on sale to consumers are properly priced. This is a simple legal requirement which helps consumers make comparisons before deciding to purchase.”
The case was brought under the Prices Act 1974 by the Department of Enterprise, Trade and Investment’s Trading Standards Service.

Pedestrian Injured In Belfast Hit-and-Run
The PSNI have issued an appeal for information following a hit-and-run incident in the Botanic Avenue area of Belfast in the early hours of Thursday morning. Officers were called to the scene shortly before 1.30am after a male pedestrian was struck by a maroon Mazda. Despite being injured, the pedestrian left the area before police arrived.

Work Underway For Free Hospital Parking In Northern Ireland
Work has begun at several hospital sites across Northern Ireland as part of the preparations for the introduction of free car parking in May 2026. Health and Social Care Trusts have been actively preparing for the implementation of a new traffic management system since the Hospital Parking Charges Act was passed in 2022.

Man released without charge in connection with murder
Police have confirmed that a man arrested in Belfast yesterday in connection with the murder of County Antrim car dealer Ronald Todd, has been released without charge. The man is the third person to be arrested then released in relation to the murder inquiry.
