Vodafone launches simplified mobile service
Vodafone is to launch Vodafone Simply, a new mobile service that has been designed for those customers who want a basic voice and text (SMS) service that is intuitive and easy to use.
Launched simultaneously on Tuesday May 24 in the UK Spain and Portugal, Vodafone Simply handsets will also be available in Germany, Greece, Sweden, New Zealand, Austria and Switzerland.
A spokesperson for Vodafone said that the service was the result of almost two years of research and development carried out in several European countries: "The conclusions of this research identified a segment of the population whose mobile requirements have not previously been addressed by mobile operators. These customers are not interested in the latest technology, but need an easy to use mobile phone with basic features to enable them to stay in contact with family and friends, as well as organize their daily lives."
This has led Vodafone Simply towards a "new concept mobile phone service" with a specially designed easier to use mobile phone.
Initially, two models will be launched: the Vodafone Simply Sagem VS1, is a silver, curvy handset, and the Vodafone Simply Sagem VS2 which is a straight black handset.
Vodafone claims that the service is a response to the requirement of customers to be able to understand and easily read messages, numbers and symbols on the phone, which feature a large legible screen presenting only relevant information in clear text. Customers can test the Vodafone Simply service for themselves without any commitment via a "Try and Buy" launch promotion.
