Funeral of fifth bus crash victim takes place

The funeral of the fifth person to die in Monday’s school bus crash in Co Meath has taken place on Friday.

More than 1,000 people attended the funeral of Aimee McCabe, 15, which took place in the village of Yellow Furze near Slane. The funerals of the other four victims, Deirdre Scanlon, 17, Claire McCluskey, 18, Sinead Ledwidge, 17, and Lisa Callan, 15, took place on Thursday.

Eight people are still being treated in hospital following Monday’s bus crash.

The exact cause of the crash is not yet clear, however, three separate investigations, led by Irish police, the Health and Safety Executive and Bus Eireann, are currently underway to try to establish the cause of the accident.

The incident, which occurred at around 4.30pm on Monday, saw a bus which was full of school children overturn at Casey's Cross at Kentstown near Navan.

Funeral for twin brothers takes place
The funeral service for the twin brothers who died in a road crash near east Belfast at the weekend has taken place. Mark and Wayne Wallace, 19, were killed when the car in which they were travelling was in collided with a tree on the Ballygowan Road at around 1am on Saturday.

Funeral Of Thai Crash Victim Takes Place
The funeral of the Londonderry man killed in last Sunday's plane crash in Phuket took place this morning. Aaron Toland's Requiem Mass was held at St Columba's Church Long Tower at 10am in the city. The 22-year old's body was flown into Dublin airport on Friday, before making the journey to Derry.

Funeral of crash victim takes place
The funeral has taken place for one of the four young people killed in a car crash in County Fermanagh at the weekend. Peter Leonard, 21, was buried after Requiem Mass at the Church of Holy Cross in Lisnaskea this afternoon.

Funerals begin for bus crash victims
Two of the pupils killed in Monday’s bus crash in Co Meath have been buried today. The funerals of Deirdre Scanlon, 17, and Claire McCluskey, 18, took place on Thursday morning. Sinead Ledwidge, 17, and Lisa Callan, 15, will be buried on Thursday afternoon while the funeral of fifth victim, Amy McCabe, 15, will take place on Friday.
