Two die in weekend tragedies

A young man has been found dead at a derelict house in Co Armagh at the weekend.

The victim, named as Seamus Turkington, 18, from the Drumbeg area of Craigavon, was found dead on Saturday following a fire in a derelict house in the Ardowen estate.

Mr Turkington’s body was apparently discovered by a worker checking the condition of the building some hours after fire crews had left the scene.

In addition to an investigation into how the fire started and the teenager died, the Fire Service is to conduct an investigation into how the body was missed by fire crews. However his death is not being treated as suspicious at this stage.

Elsewhere, a man has died following a road traffic accident in Co Down on Sunday.

The victim died when a motorcycle and a car were in collision on the Ballygowan Road, near Moneyreagh, at around 3.30pm on Sunday.

Police are appealing for anyone with information to contact them on 028 9065 0222 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555111.
