Two youths arrested following attempted robbery
Police have arrested two teenagers following an attempted robbery and an attempted hijacking in Bangor on Monday night.
Shortly before 11pm staff at a Chinese takeaway on the Rathgael Road were threatened by a person armed with a screwdriver who demanded cash from the till but fled empty handed.
Approximately fifteen minutes later a woman motorist reported an attempted car hijacking on the Clandeboye Road. The driver, threatened with a knife during the incident, was forced from her car, but her assailant was unable to make off in the vehicle. The woman was left extremely shaken by the ordeal.
Police believe the two incidents may be linked and a screwdriver, which was also recovered, is being examined.
Police have appealed for anyone who was on the Rathgael Road or Clandeboye Road between 10.45pm and 11.15pm on Monday night and witnessed any suspicious activity is asked to contact police at Bangor on 028 9145 4444 or Crimestoppers number on 0800 555 111.

Two women assaulted in Bangor robbery
Two women in their twenties have been assaulted during a robbery in Bangor. Police said that two men entered the off-licence on the Rathgael Road area of the town and struck one woman in the face and pushed the other into a wall. The men then fled in a waiting car taking with them an undisclosed sum of money and a quantity of alcohol.

Public Stop Attempted Hijacker In L'Derry
Members of the public intervened to stop an attempted hijacking in L'Derry. A man approached a silver Toyota Avensis in the Carlisle Road area just after 11.45am on Saturday, 10 March. The man damaged the window wipers and the bonnet before getting into the vehicle and trying to make off in it.
