Couple escape injury after car is set alight outside home
A couple have escaped injury after a car was set alight outside the back of their home in north Belfast on Wednesday.
The male occupant of the house in Brompton Park said flames were burning only feet away from the gas meter of his home after youths set fire to a car at the back door of their property.
He said his wife was left badly shaken after the incident after she tried to extinguish the flames that were coming through the door.
Sinn Fein councillor Margaret McClenaghan said a small group of teenagers in the area were responsible for the trouble.
"I have been up in the one of the houses and have seen the damage to a back door,” she said.
"People were very luck that they didn't lose their lives there yesterday."
