Radius Plastics to extend operations and look to export market
Local firm Radius Plastics has announced plans to extend its local base of operations to allow the company to increase its current product range and move into new and more profitable export markets.
A leading manufacturer of highly specialised extruded products for the telecommunications industry the company is in the process of building a new 1,600 square metre extension to its existing Banbridge facility and plans to create 13 new jobs as part of the expansion.
Attracting assistance from Invest Northern Ireland, the introduction of new machinery and production facilities within the extended workspace will allow Radius Plastics to enhance its research and development capabilities.
Commenting on the expansion the Managing Director of Radius Plastics Greg Devine said: “We have a strong reputation for creating innovative new products and this extension will allow us to bring these products to market. By increasing the size of our factory we will be better positioned to meet the demands of our clients and ensure the continued success of the company.”
Helping Radius Plastics with its expansion project Invest Northern Ireland has offered selective financial assistance towards total project costs of approximately £3 million.
It is anticipated that the new extension project will lead to the creation of 13 new jobs, raising the total workforce to 79.
Brian Dolaghan, Director of Engineering and Business Services with Invest NI added: “This project is a significant milestone in Radius Plastic’s development and will give the company the space it needs to fully realise its creative capabilities. By focusing on the development of a new range of products the company will be able to extend its product offering and break into even more profitable export markets.”
Radius Plastics is a wholly owned subsidiary of Derbyshire-based Uponor a Finnish owned conglomerate with around 4,800 employees.
