Surfer in critical condition in hospital

A surfer who went missing off the north west coast on Monday is in a critical condition in hospital.

A major search and rescue operation immediately got under way after the man's board was washed up on the beach at Downhill in Co Londonderry at about 1pm.

Around 45 minutes later a helicopter spotted him in the sea and from there he was taken to shore by an inshore lifeboat were he was given oxygen by the lifeboat crew and Coastguard rescue team before being taken to Coleraine Hospital.

There are no further details at present.

Meanwhile, a Co Down fisherman has died after falling from a harbour in the north of England.

Mickey O'Boyle, 47, from Kilclief, is thought to have fallen into a fishing boat moored at Whitehaven docks in Cumbria early on Sunday.

Police say Mr O’Boyle’s death is not being treated as suspicious.

Two Teens Rescued From Rocks In Co Down
Two teenage girls have been rescued after being trapped on rocks in Bangor, Co Down. It is believed they had been stuck on the rocks for a number of hours. Emergency services were alerted just after 9pm on Tuesday, 04 April. Bangor Coastguard Rescue Team, the Coastguard Helicopter and Bangor RNLI Lifeboat were deployed.

Man Dies After Portstewart Harbour Fall
A man who died on Tuesday evening after falling into the sea near Portstewart harbour in L'Derry has been named as Stanley Duncan, chief executive of the Driver and Vehicle Agency (DVA) in Northern Ireland. Mr Duncan is reported to have been fishing close to the shore at Victoria Terrace before 17:00 when the incident occurred.

Body Found In Missing Person Search
The search for a "high-risk missing person" in north Belfast has sadly ended with the discovery of a body. Volunteers from the Community Rescue Service (CRS) were deployed to the area on Tuesday morning, 28 May, to assist in the search for a person who had been missing from their home for some time.
