Two fishermen rescued from stricken vessel
Two fishermen have been saved from their boat following a collision south of Carlingford Lough.
It emerged that the Scathross from Kilkeel had been struck by the Emanuel, a second vessel also from Kilkeel.
The 32-foot Scathross received damage in the collision and the two crew had boarded the Emanuel which attempted to take the stricken vessel in tow. But as the Scathross was holed in the collision and sinking the tow had to be cut.
It is reported that the Scathross had been adrift at the time of the incident and the Emanuel not apparently not realised in time that a collision was imminent.
No injuries to the crew of either boat were reported.
Belfast Coastguard were notified of the incident this morning.

Victim Of Fatal Road Collision In Co Antrim Named

Mr Caddell, 22, died following the two-vehicle collision involving a car and a lorry on Monday, 10 April. The incident happened on the Manse Road at around 10.50am. The PSNI have issued an appeal for information and witnesses following a fatal collision in Armagh in the early hours of Sunday, 24 March. A driver and three passengers died when the grey Volkswagen Golf they were travelling in crashed on the Ballynahonemore Road at around 2.10am.
