Man remanded in custody charged with car park murder

A 32-year-old man has been remanded in custody charged with the murder of another man in a Co Tyrone car park at the weekend.

Gerard Patrick McKenna of Legane Road in Dungannon appeared at Dungannon Magistrates Court on Wednesday charged with the murder of 21-year-old Sean Mimnagh on Sunday.

Mr Mimnagh died after he was struck by a car which failed to stop outside Dungannon's Glengannon Hotel in the early hours of Sunday morning. The victim had made the 30-mile trip from his home in Omagh for a night out at the hotel's nightclub.

A detective told the court that when charged, Mr McKenna said: "I didn't mean to kill anybody".

The accused is due to appear in court via videolink again next month.
