Adair due in court over harrassment charge

Former UDA leader Johnny Adair is to appear before a court in Bolton today accused of harassment.

Adair, who was released from jail in January, will appear before magistrates in Greater Manchester alongside William Woods who faces two counts of harassment and one charge of common assault.

The incident is alleged to have taken place in Halliwell Road, Bolton.

Adair has settled in the Bolton area with his wife, family and former associates since they were all ousted from the Shankill Road in Belfast following a UDA power struggle in 2003.

During that struggle East Antrim loyalist John ‘Grugg’ Gregg was shot dead.

The UDA leadership blamed elements within Adair's "C Company" faction for the killing and forced his family and associates to flee as part of a UDA purge of the lower Shankill area.
