Family escape injury in petrol bomb attack
A family have escaped injury in a petrol bomb attack in north Belfast on Wednesday evening.
A device was thrown at the back of the property in the mainly nationalist Longlands Road at around 6.45pm.
A mother and her four children were in their house when the incident occurred, however the woman said she did not why her home had been targeted.
Sinn Féin Councillor Briege Meehan said there was a belief amongst local people that the attack was sectarian.
"At this stage exact details about the motivation behind this petrol bomb attack on a family home in Longlands is not clear," Cllr. Meehan said. "However there is a belief amongst local people that the attack is yet another sectarian attack on an innocent Catholic family.
"This is not the first such attack in the Longlands area and it is fortunate that nobody was seriously injured in last night's incident."
Police have appealed for anyone with information to contact them on 028 9065 0222 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555111.
