GAA celebrations hit by security alert
Tyrone GAA's All–Ireland celebrations were hit by a security alert in Magherafelt on Monday.
Army technical officers were tasked to examine a suspicious object which turned out to be a crude type device, which also contained fireworks, on the Castledawson Road at around 7.45pm.
Police have appealed to anyone who was on the road at the time of the incident and witnessed any suspicious activity to contact them on 028 7963 3701 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
Meanwhile, Sports Minister David Hanson has announced that a civic reception for Tyrone and GAA All-Ireland minor champions Down, is to take place.
Adding his congratulations to the plaudits which have already been handed out to both teams, the Minister said: "My congratulations go to the Tyrone and Down football teams on their tremendous victories.
"The achievement of both teams in two thrilling finals on Sunday was magnificent and one in which all connected with the teams can be justifiably proud.
"Such an occasion should be marked in a special manner and I will be inviting the players and officials from Tyrone and from Down to a reception in honour of their great success."

Queen's honours Tyrone GAA Manager
Tyrone GAA manager, Mickey Harte, has today been honoured by Queen's University in Belfast. He was awarded an honorary Doctorate of the University for services to Gaelic Football, which he received at a graduation ceremony this afternoon.

Funeral held for Tyrone GAA star
Thousands of mourners have attended the funeral of Tyrone GAA star Cormac McAnallen in his home town of Eglish, near Dungannon today. At the funeral mass Archbishop Sean Bradey said that the young man had been a hero, and an icon for young men. The 24-year-old was found dead at his home in bed on Tuesday.

Health Minister Launches New 10 Year Cancer Strategy
A new 10 year Cancer Strategy that aims to deliver top class outcomes for people in Northern Ireland has been announced by Health Minister Robin Swann. In an important step forward for a key goal in the Strategy, the Minister revealed the locations for two prototype Rapid Diagnosis Centres which will serve patients from across Northern Ireland.

Deirdre Hargey MLA met with Ulster GAA officials at the west Belfast site to discuss furthering the project. Minister Hargey said she is determined to see the project started as soon as possible.
