Police seize fireworks and counterfeit goods in north Belfast
Police in North Belfast have seized a substantial quantity of illegal fireworks and other items following three planned searches on Wednesday.
Over 1,000 fireworks, along with 40 cartons of cigarettes, were seized from a house at Downview Gardens, off Antrim Road.
A total of 805 rocket-type fireworks were seized from a house at Glasgow Street, off the Shore Road while at Elmfield Street in the Ardoyne area over 5,000 cigarettes, cash and over 200 counterfeit DVDs were also seized.
Chief Supt. Mike Little, called on members of the public to help bring about more seizures by showing their support.
“The sale and distribution of illegal fireworks is taken very seriously and will not be tolerated within North Belfast DCU," he said. “These fireworks not only cause great annoyance in the community, but are potentially very dangerous.
“Police want to take as many of these fireworks as possible out of circulation, but we need the support of parents and the whole community. Anyone who is aware of illegal fireworks being sold should contact police."

Northern Ireland's Health and Justice Ministers have urged the public to stay safe during Halloween celebrations this year. The announcement follows a record low in the number of people injured by fireworks. Just 14 incidents were reported last year.

Police seize illegal fireworks worth £750,000
Police have seized illegal fireworks worth around three quarter of a million pounds in the Coagh area of County Tyrone. The haul, which was recovered during a planned search on Wednesday October 24, included around 5,000 display units and 400 garden fireworks. The items found have all been taken away for safe storage by the army.

Minister warns of dangers of fireworks
Health Minister Paul Goggins has today issued a warning on the dangers of fireworks in the run up to Halloween. Speaking at the Children's A&E Department at the Royal Belfast Hospital for Sick Children, the Minister said: "Halloween is meant to be a time of fun, with school holidays, parties and fireworks.

Firework Display Organisers Urged To Submit Licence Applications
Anyone planning a fireworks display this Halloween have been urged to apply for a licence "in good time". It is an offence to buy or be in possession of fireworks without a licence and applications for the Halloween period must received by the Department of Justice by close of play on Friday 20 October 2023.
