Sanchez names NI squad ahead of Portugal friendly
Northern Ireland Manager Lawrie Sanchez has named his squad for Tuesday night's friendly against Portugal at Windsor Park.
The 19-man squad arrived in the province on Sunday ahead of the game which is part of the IFA's 125th anniversary.
Sanchez has had to call up three new faces for the match following the withdrawal of regular's David Healy, Chris Baird, Aaron Hughes and Damien Johnson. Motherwell's Brian McLean and Irish League part-timer Peter Thompson join Dean Shiels of Hibernian in the squad for the first time.
Meanwhile, a special reception is to be held at Hillsborough Castle on Monday in recognition of Northern Ireland's achievements during the recent World Cup qualifiers.
In particular NIO minister David Hanson will help celebrate the side's 1-0 victory over England in September.
NI squad for Tuesday's game is: Maik Taylor (Birmingham City), Michael Ingham (Wrexham), Colin Murdock (Rotherham United), Stephen Craigan (Motherwell), Tony Capaldi (Plymouth Argyle), Michael Duff (Burnley), Gareth McAuley (Lincoln City), Brian McLean (Motherwell), Steve Davis (Aston Villa), Chris Brunt (Sheffield Wednesday), Stuart Elliott (Hull City), Grant McCann (Cheltenham Town), Keith Gillespie (Sheffield United), James Quinn (Peterborough United), Warren Feeney (Luton Town), Steve Jones (Crewe Alexandra), Ivan Sproule (Hibernian), Peter Thompson (Linfield), Dean Shiels (Hibernian).
