Loyalists must engage with de Chastelain - Hain
Secretary of State Peter Hain has called on loyalist paramilitaries to engage with the Decommissioning Body to begin the process of decommissioning their weapons.
Speaking during NI questions, Mr Hain said the Government was hoping that some of the loyalist groups would start to engage with the IMC, headed by General John de Chastelain, as soon as possible.
"I understand some preliminary contacts have taken place and it is important they progress so we can get to the same end as was achieved with the Provisional IRA," he said.
Meanwhile, Prime Minister Tony Blair has said that the "pain and anguish" caused by allowing paramilitary 'on-the-runs' to return to Northern Ireland is going to have to be dealt with.
The Prime Minister was responding to a question from DUP MP David Simpson who asked Mr Blair what the British people would think if the killers of a female police officer in Bradford last Friday were granted an amnesty.
MPs are currently debating proposed legislation to allow fugitives to return without having to serve prison sentences.
The proposals cover up to 150 people wanted for crimes committed before the Good Friday Agreement in 1998.

DAERA Minister Confirms Commitment to Deposit Return Scheme
