Six appear in court faced with money laundering charges
Six men have appeared in court accused of money laundering charges involving almost £300,000.
All of the charged were linked to Lawrence Kincaid, a loyalist from north Belfast who was in court last Saturday on 34 charges linked with laundering money.
The charges were brought under the Proceeds of Crime Act and follow an investigation by the PSNI's Financial Investigation Unit.
One of the accused, a car dealer from Ballynahinch, faces eight charges involving £138,000.
These include arranging with Mr Kincaid to conceal criminal property worth a total of £74,000.
Two of the others were jointly charged with conspiring with Mr Kincaid to obtain by deception a mortgage for £74,800 on his home in Doagh.
A prosecuting lawyer applied for a remand until February 3 to link up with Kincaid`s next court appearance.
But defence solicitors said the investigation would be a protracted affair and it would be pointless to bring the defendants back to court within a month.
All six men were remanded on continuing police bail until the March 9.
