IKEA Stores To Employ 900 In Two Stores
Swedish furniture giant IKEA is planning to set up shop in Ireland with stores in both Dublin and Belfast.
The two stores will employ around 900 people, 500 in Dublin and 40 in Belfast.
Subject to planning permission the Dublin store will be located in Ballymun close to the M50 interchange and the Belfast store will be near the Holywood exchange, close to Belfast City Airport.
Last year, the Irish Government lifted its cap on the size of retail outlets, paving the way for the Swedish form to enter the Irish market.
The Dublin store is being planned in conjunction with Ballymun Regeneration Limited - a company set up by Dublin City Council to promote development in the area.
IKEA had previously threatened to set up only in the north if their proposal for the Ballymun site development was turned down.
