11+ results will be delivered on time

Striking Belfast postal workers have decided to return to work this Saturday to ensure that pupils waiting for 11+ results are not left disappointed.

Royal Mail has today assured the Belfast Education and Library Board that the results will be delivered on time.

However, it is understood that postal workers had already promised to deliver the 11+ results regardless of whether the strike had ended or not.

A spokesperson for the Communications Workers' Union (CWU) said that the members felt strongly that the delivery of the children's test results was not jeopardised

Royal mail had said that management would deliver the results if postal staff did not return to work.

Over 200 postal workers went on strike on Tuesday, following ongoing disputes over disciplinary procedures.

Talks to settle the dispute broke down on yesterday without agreement.

The strike has resulted in hundreds of homes in North, South and West Belfast not having their mail delivered since the strike began.
