Two charged with intimidation of murder victim

Two men have been charged with the intimidation of murder victim Thomas Hollran, who was forced to leave his Carrickfergus home in December last year.

Mr Hollran, 49, died in hospital on Sunday afternoon, after being assaulted in the town on Saturday night.

He is understood to have returned to the town to visit a relative when the attack took place.

Thomas Hollran was ordered to leave his hometown of Carrickfergus following a dispute with loyalist paramilitaries.

One of the men appearing in court today was Mr Hollran's brother Jonathan, 38, and the other is Peter Francis Callaghan, 34, both are from Carrickfergus.

The men were charged in Belfast Magistrates Court with forcing the victim to leave Carrickfergus on 31 December 2005 by force, threats or menaces.

They were remanded in custody until March 24.

Two other men questioned by police about the murder have been released without charge.

Appeal to find Thomas Hollran killers re-launched
Police in Carrickfergus have re-launched their appeal to find those responsible for the murder of a man in the town in February. They have also urged the people of the town to stop protecting the loyalist paramilitaries who are believed to be connected to the killing .

Woman Assaulted During Aggravated Burglary In Newtownabbey
A woman has been assaulted during an aggravated burglary in Newtownabbey. A number of masked and armed men forced entry to a property in the Forthill Drive area at around 10.15pm on Wednesday, 19 September. A woman who was in the house at the time was attacked and sustained an injury to her lip. Three other people in the property were not injured.

Man In His 60s Shot In The Leg In L'Derry
Police in L'Derry have issued an appeal for information following a shooting incident on Thursday night, 30 August. A man, aged in his 60s, suffered a gunshot wound to his leg when a number of masked men forced entry into a house in the Ballymagroarty area of the city at around 11pm.

Appeal For Information On Aggravated Burglary In Cookstown
The PSNI have issued an appeal for information following a report of an aggravated burglary at the Queens Avenue area of Cookstown on Friday 3rd February. Shortly after 10pm, it was reported that four masked men entered a property in the area with one of the men armed with an iron bar and another man armed with a suspected firearm.

Two Men Attacked With Baseball Bats In Co Antrim
Two 18-year-old men have been attacked with baseball bats in Whitehead, Co Antrim. The victims were closing premises in the Balmoral Avenue area at around 8.30pm on Tuesday, 04 October when three men assaulted them. Both men were treated in hospital for their injuries. One has been discharged, and the other remains in hospital.
