British and Irish Premiers to discuss NI political process
The British and Irish Premiers are to meet today at the European Union summit in Brussels to hold further discussions on the political situation in Northern Ireland.
Tony Blair and Bertie Ahern are expected to make a proposal regarding the restoration of the local assembly without any power-sharing executive.
It is understood that these plans will be revealed to local politicians during a visit to the province on a possible date of April 6.
There has also been widespread speculation that the Prime Minister and the Taoiseach will call local political parties back to Stormont for a temporary six-week period throughout the summers marching season.
The local assembly was suspended in October 2002 following the Stormontgate scandal, following allegations of a republican spy ring in the Northern Ireland Office.
This was eventually dismissed after a senior Sinn Fein official, who was believed to be connected to the spy ring, was acquitted of any involvement and claimed to have been a British agent for the twenty years previous.

Kelly Withdraws PSNI Legal Action
Sinn Féin MLA Gerry Kelly has said he is no longer taking legal action against the PSNI Chief Constable Matt Baggott, it has been reported. Earlier this week, it was revealed that Mr Kelly – who is also a Policing Board Member – had lodged legal proceedings in relation to an incident that occurred in north Belfast last June.

FSB advances financial proposals for NI
Business body, the Federation of Small Businesses (FSB), has unveiled plans for a Northern Ireland finance package. The FSB have called for the introduction of a Ten Year Rates Reinvestment Fund to offer every business in Northern Ireland a 50% rates reduction if they use the capital to employ more staff and expand their business.
