North Belfast woman murdered

Police have revealed that a woman, who died following a house fire in north Belfast at the weekend, was murdered.

The 42-year-old woman was taken to hospital after being caught in the blaze at her home in Clanmorris Street, in the Tiger's Bay area of the city, in the early hours of Saturday morning.

However, she later died in hospital from her injuries.

It is understood that a man arrested shortly after the incident is being held by police for questioning.

The woman's identity has not yet been revealed and police in north Belfast are appealing for anyone who may have any information relating to the fire, to contact them on 0845 600 8000, or anonymously on the Crimestoppers number on 0800 555 111.

Police have launched an investigation following a fatal crash in Co Antrim. The collision, between a bus and a car, happened in Randalstown at around 2.45pm on Sunday, 11 February. A 58-year-old woman died as a result of injuries she sustained in the incident. Police are appealing for witnesses to contact them.

Five police officers have been treated in hospital for the effects of breathing in smoke following a fire in north Belfast. Officers responded to reports of a fire at a block of flats in Flax Street at around 5.40am on Saturday 29 September. The officers who were first to arrive at the scene entered the building and evacuated residents.

Police Probe Woman's Death In North Belfast
Police are investigating the circumstances surrounding the death of a woman in the New Lodge area of west Belfast. The body, understood to be a woman aged in her 30s, was found in a block of flats in Victoria Parade on Thursday morning, 11 April. Enquiries are ongoing and a post-mortem will be carried out in due course.
