Woman released after questioning over Northern Bank robbery

A 40-year-old woman who was arrested today in connection with the £26 million Northern Bank robbery in December 2004, has been released.

A police spokesperson confirmed earlier that a woman had been arrested in the Coalisland area of County Tyrone this morning and had been taken to the serious crime unit in Antrim for questioning by detectives investigating the heist.

However, the woman was later released without charge.

Around £26 million was stolen during the raid on the Northern Bank's headquarters just before Christmas 2004.

The IRA are alleged to have been heavily involved.

Three people have already been arrested in connection with the robbery, including a Northern Bank employee.
