Border Fox granted extended leave
Former INLA man, Dessie O'Hare, also known as Border Fox, has been granted an extended period of temporary release by the prison service in the Irish Republic.
Mr O'Hare, originally from County Armagh, was serving a 40-year sentence for kidnapping and mutilating Dublin dentist, John O'Grady, in 1988.
At the time, it was revealed that O'Hare had cut off parts of the dentist's fingers after a ransom demand was not been met.
The victim was rescued by police and Dessie O'Hare was later captured by Gardai in County Kilkenny.
It is understood that he took a High Court action and was declared a qualifying prisoner under the terms of the Good Friday Agreement.
The conditions of the release mean that he must report to Castlerea prison in a few weeks time, and providing that he abides by the terms and conditions of the early release, his freedom is likely to be extended again.

53-Year-Old Dies In Custody At Maghaberry Prison
A 53-year-old has reportedly died in custody at Maghaberry Prison, the Northern Ireland Prison Service has announced. The Department of Justice has reported that the prisoner died on Saturday 28 August, that his next of kin have been informed and that the death was not covid related.

A 22-year-old man has died while in custody at Maghaberry Prison, the Northern Ireland Prison Service has reported. The Department of Justice has confirmed that the man died in custody on the morning of Thursday, 30 August. The man's next of kin have been informed. The PSNI, Coroner and Prisoner Ombudsman have been informed about the death.

Ford Announces Mistaken Release Of Another Prisoner
The Justice Minister David Ford has admitted another prisoner has been wrongfully released from Maghaberry prison, the fourth in eight months. Mr Ford revealed on Tuesday morning that George Damien MacFerran, 47, was released from custody on Friday, despite still having six weeks left to serve on his sentence for assault with an offensive weapon.
