PSNI to reveal whether chef is to be prosecuted
A chef from New York could find out, over the next six weeks, whether or not the PSNI are to prosecute him over a break-in at a Northern Ireland police station.
Larry Zaitschek, 38, was an employee at the canteen at Castlereagh Police station when files were taken from Special Branch offices on March 17, 2002.
The High Court in Belfast today learned that the Public Prosecution Service were still carrying out discussions on whether or not to bring him to court. However, they had not yet been able to reach a decision.
Mr Zaitschek, who returned to the United States five days after the theft, has argued that the wait for a decision has prevented him from returning to Northern Ireland to fight a child custody battle.
Both sides today agreed to adjourn for another six weeks, with the next hearing scheduled for June 9.
