Cancer treatment delayed due to sick doctor
A number of cancer patients living in the County Antrim area have been waiting for up to six weeks to start their treatment.
It has been reported that the 25 women waiting for treatment have been told that the delay is due to the fact that their consultant oncologist is on sick leave.
It is understood that some of the patients are afraid that the delay in commencing their chemotherapy treatment will have a major effect on their recovery process.
Belfast City Hospital, which is responsible for cancer care, says it is trying to resolve the situation.
In a statement, a spokeman for the trust said that they were doing all they could to resolve the situation.
He also said the remaining staff were working at maximum capacity, and every effort was being made to minimise the impact on patients.

Over 88% Of Cancer Patients Begin Treatment Within 31 Days
Over 88% of people diagnosed with cancer began treatment within the 31 day target in the four months to September 2022, up from 86% in the previous four months. The Department of Health today published the Northern Ireland Cancer Waiting Times Statistics Release for the quarter ending September 2022.
