Inmates hold rooftop protest

Visits to a County Londonderry prison have been suspended after two inmates staged a protest on a rooftop.

The men climbed onto the roof of a single story concrete building at Magilligan Prison and asked to speak to a Free Presbyterian Minister.

The Rev Wesley McDowell spoke to the prisoners who claimed to have been victimised by staff in the prison.

A spokesperson for the Prison Service has stated that no one has been injured during the incident and that they are currently in negotiations with the two inmates.
