Charles and Camilla continue with NI visit

The Prince of Wales and The Duchess of Cornwall today continued with the second day of their visit to Northern Ireland by making a wish come true for 8-year-old Anna Earls from Dundonald.

Anna, who suffers from a malignant kidney tumour, had her wish come true today, when she met Their Royal Highnesses at her very own special meeting in Hillsborough Castle.

Anna, accompanied by her mother Mrs Alison Earls and grandmother Mrs Elizabeth Sharpe spent time with the Royal couple in the Lady Grey Room in the Castle, where they had the opportunity to speak about Anna’s special wish.

It has been Anna's wish to meet The Prince of Wales and The Duchess of Cornwall for some time, and after the Earls family contacted the 'Make-A-Wish Foundation UK,' this was turned into a reality.

Following the meeting, and before her own VIP tour of the Castle, young Anna said: “They were lovely.”

Following the meeting with Anna, Their Royal Highnesses left Hillsborough Castle to travel to Fivemiletown Creamery in County Tyrone.

Townsfolk, children and the local brass band turned out to welcome the Royal visitors this morning when they arrived at the creamery. Beginning a tour of the award winning Creamery that specialises in hard and soft cheese production and is owned, in part, by local farmers, the Royal visitors had the milk testing process explained to them.

They then went on to meet around 120 guests before being presented with a gift of a history book on the Clogher Valley and its Railways and a selection of cheeses.

Their next engagement at the SHARE Centre in Lisnaskea. Here, their Royal Highnesses officially open a £450k building extension that will allow able bodied and people with disabilities to participate in year-round water sports such as canoeing, wind-surfing and sailing. Today’s visit and formed part of the organisations 25th anniversary celebrations.

The couple then joined a reception of around 100 guests including SHARE volunteers, supporters, and representatives of The Prince’s Trust, before unveilling a plaque to commemorate the occasion.
