Sinn Fein call for Orange free Parades Commission
Sinn Fein has met with the Parade Commission today, following yesterday's resignation of Portadown Orangeman Don McKay, after a row over references.
Yesterday, Mr McKay resigned from the Parades Commission after weeks of controversy over his appointment.
It is understood that he had named he SDLP`s Dolores Kelly, along with the DUP`s David Simpson, as references, without either party's permission.
During today's meeting, Sinn Fein called for the dismissal of David Burrows from the Parades Commission after it emerged that a Methodist Minister, which he had named as a referee for the post on the body, had also not given his permission.
Upper Bann assembly member John O'Dowd today said that as an Orangeman Mr Burrows had "no place" on the commission, which rules on contentious parades and added that the regardless of the details of the appointments process Mr Burrows should be removed by NI Secretary Peter Hain.
Mr O'Dowd said that the Parades Commission had been set up to rule on controversial marches organised by the loyal orders, and due to this, there should be no place on the Commission for members of the Orange Order.
Mr O'Dowd concluded by saying that there was still time for the situation to be rectified before the start of the marching season.

Parades Commission member quits Orange Order
A member of the Northern Ireland Parades Commission, whose membership of the Orange Order sparked court action earlier in the month, has resigned from the Order. David Burrows was a member of the Portadown Lodge which was at the centre of the decade-long Drumcree dispute.

SF to meet Parades Commission over Twelfth parades
A meeting is to take place between Sinn Fein and the Parades Commission over a number of controversial Orange Order parades that are to take place in north Belfast on July 12. A delegation from the party is to meet the commission on Thursday morning with regard to parades along the Springfield Road and Crumlin Road planned for Friday.

Roads Service Ready For Winter Weather
Infrastructure Minister John O'Dowd has confirmed that the Department's winter service team is prepared to tackle the current cold snap. Around 300 staff and 130 gritters are ready to salt main roads, while 12 snow blowers are available for deployment if necessary. To ensure a comprehensive winter service, the Department has allocated £3.
