Stone throwers attack police during Newry parade
Police in County Down have been attacked by stone throwers during a legal notified parade in the Camlough area of Newry.
The incident happened at around 4pm yesterday, during a republican march to commemorate the ten men who died during the 1981 hunger strike at the Maze prison in Belfast.
It is understood that police were directing traffic in order to facilitate the parade, when they came under attack by a 30-strong gang.
The crowd confronted a police vehicle and tried to prevent it from moving, before proceeding to thrown stones at officers.
No one was injured during the incident and police are currently undergoing an investigation to identify those involved.
Anyone who may have witnessed the attack or who may know the identity of anyone involved in it, are urged to contact police in Newry on 0845 600 8000, or anonymously on the Crimestoppers number on 0800 555 111.

A van used in the shooting of Randalstown PSNI station on Wednesday evening is believed to have been the vehicle stolen earlier in the evening from a family who were held hostage by a gang of men at a house in Craigstown Road in the town.

Police have condemned another "brutal and senseless" attack on sheep in the Ballyholland area close to Newry. The incident is the third such attack on sheep in as many weeks. Chief Inspector Roy Robinson said: "It was reported that three sheep were attacked and killed in the area, sometime between 8.30pm on Wednesday 5 July and 8.
