Paedophile priest returned to prison
A Catholic priest who had previously served a jail term for indecently assaulting young children, has today been returned to prison for a second time.
Daniel Curran, 56, from Bryansford Avenue in Newcastle, Co Down, pleaded guilty to five counts of indecent assault against a young child, between 1977 and 1982.
Fifteen other counts against the same victim were left on the books.
A Prosecution Lawyer today told Belfast Crown Court that the victim had been abused on a regular basis over five years.
The court heard that the abuse began when Curran formed a relationship with the victim's mother, and often took part in overnight drinking sessions with members of the family.
A defence lawyer said the priest had "shown great remorse."
He was today given a sentence of another 14 months.
It is understood that Curran has already spent seven years in prison for indecently assaulting nine children.

Elderly Man Accused Of Raping Minor
A 67-year-old man is to appear in court today, charged with raping and indecently assaulting a minor. The man was detained by police yesterday. It is believed the alleged offences took place in east Belfast between 2005 and 2006. The man is expected to appear before Belfast Magistrates Court this morning, police said.

A female conductor has been indecently assaulted on a train journey from L'Derry to Belfast, according to the PSNI. The incident happened after a woman intervened after a group of male passengers became rowdy on Saturday, 14 April. The woman was allegedly grabbed by one of the men and verbally abused.

Teenage Girl Indecently Assaulted In Co Down
Police are appealing for information after a 13-year-old girl was indecently assaulted in Downpatrick, Co Down. The attack happened in an alleyway, near to the Scout Hall in the Thomas Russell Park area, at around 5.10pm on Tuesday.
